Sidenote
Free Personal Essay Blog Template
Free
A personal blog template for writers, designers, researchers, founders, and consultants publishing long-form essays and short notes. It supports independent publishing with features for focused reading, including margin sidenotes, a table of contents, reading progress, search, and newsletter subscriptions.
About this template
Sidenote is a free personal blog template for Framer that helps writers, designers and researchers publish long essays people actually finish. Its signature is something no other Framer template has: Tufte-style sidenotes that sit in the margin beside the sentence they explain, and open inline with a tap on phones.
Perfect for
Designers and engineers writing essays about their craft
Researchers and academics who need footnotes that don't break the reading
Founders and consultants building an audience with a newsletter
Writers moving from Substack or Medium to their own site
What makes it different
Margin sidenotes. Write [1] in your text and the note appears beside that line, with hover highlighting and a gentle intro on the home page.
A lab-notebook look. Graph-paper texture, precise mono labels in pencil blue and a cohesive duotone image set.
Day and Lamp. A visible theme switch (remembered), with a soft lamp glow that follows the cursor at night.
Built for long reading. Table of contents, reading progress, search, and a subscribe card at the end of every essay.
